The Al and Norman Mar Scholarship Award and the Phil Mar Scholarship Award are given annually to the deserving young individuals in the SCAA Program. The recipients of these awards are chosen by separate scholarship committees from the nomination submitted by the coaches and parent coordinators of the high school teams. Selections are based on attitude, sportsmanship, conduct on and off the court, as well as willingness to help out in all phases in the SCAA Program. Recipients must have been in the SCAA Program for two years or more to be eligible. The Phil Mar Perpetual Coaches Trophy is awarded annually to the coaches who best exemplify the spirit, dedication, and standards of Phil Mar. The recipient is chosen by vote of all SCAA coaches.
The SCAA Scholarship Award is a new award started in 2001 offered to graduating high school seniors who are SCAA members. The beneficiaries of this award are chosen through an application process reviewed and considered by community representatives outside of SCAA membership. It is based on written essays as well as a point system evaluating the successes in the areas of Grade Point Average (GPA), leadership, community service, and work experiences.
