Steve AraiSteve was very involved with SCAA. He was very caring and supported the SCAA families with his quiet, mild manner way of leadership.

Steve was a board member who always saw the big picture, brought in new ideas and helped create the "Land of the Giants". The Land of the Giants was a basketball obstacle course which was designed for kids from 5th grade to seniors in high school. This was an obstacle course with 12 stations, set in the double gym at Franklin High School. It was Steve who made "giant size" drawings for every station. Steve was a giant in his own way, he loved helping the kids and enjoyed fun competition.

Every year SCAA has an Education Night, which is designed to help the kids of SCAA learn about the realities of life. At the end of this Education Night, raffle tickets are given to the kids and all of the volunteer coaches — close to 350 raffle participants. Prizes consisted of gift cards from sports stores, restaurants, electronic stores and many other prizes were raffled and given to the kids and volunteer coaches. This takes money to get all these prizes for the kids, and Steve volunteered to solicit the funds for this raffle. Steve would bring in a substantial donation every year while he was on the board and continued this tradition even after his term serving on the board.

Everyone involved with SCAA is grateful for the time and involvement that Steve gave to our organization. He will be missed.
