2008 Paul Robeson Scholar Athlete Program - Check your mail for the receipt of the 2008 Paul Robeson Scholar Athlete Award permission slip. Your student athlete between the age of 5 and 15 has been nominated by SCAA for this program and may be eligible to receive this award. There were 800+ student scholar athletes who received awards for the 2007 season. This past awards ceremony included a presentation from a Seahawk wide receiver, as well as donations from the Earl Watson Foundation including 8 tickets for each player to a Sonics game, vouchers for Storm tickets, and a 2 hour free gameplay card to Gameworks. As always, your student athlete receives a generous
trophy or plaque depending on their academic placement.

The deadline to return the completed permission form is Thursday May 15, 2008. The program requires this information to contact your student athletes school to obtain academic information. Any forms received after the above date, will disqualify the nomination.

If you have any questions, please contact Diane Felix on 206-725-6232.

Instead of our annual carnival during Al Mar weekend, we're going to have a bowling bash. This year will also be a potluck instead of our usual spaghetti feed. We're depending upon each team to hold up its end on the food assignments. SCAA will be providing all the paper products. (Please note that the 7th and 8th grade teams are also being asked to help setup which is why they have the easier task of bringing beverages.)

This should be a ton of fun. We'll have the whole bowling alley to ourselves from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Saturday, March 29. So, polish up your bowling shoes, put on your best bowling shirt and join us for the festivities and what’s sure to be great food. Download Food Assignments (PDF)

ALERT: POLICY CHANGE regarding Vancouver B.C. Tournament Travel.

Due to child protection and welfare concerns, the US Customs and Border Patrol is now requiring that all children traveling without their parents provide the following documentation:

• Passport OR Original Birth Certificate with Picture ID (School, Permit/Drivers License)
Travel Consent Form (PDF) (They strongly recommend this consent form to be notarized.)

In response SCAA is recommending that all children traveling without their parents get their Parental Consent Forms notarized.
